Whenever the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said the opening takbeer in the prayer, he would pause silently between the takbeer and the recitation. So I said, "May my father and mother be sacrificed for you, tell me about your silence between the takbeer and the recitation. What do you say during it?"He replied, "I say, 'O Allah, distance me from my sins as You have distanced the East from the West. O Allah, cleanse me of my sins as a white garment is cleansed of filth.'"Jareer said, "as a garment is cleansed.""O Allah, wash me of my sins with snow, water, and hail."Ubayy said, "All of it is from Abu Zura except this part, which is from Abu Salih."
Both of its chains are sahih. Ahmad reported it from two teachers, Muhammad bin Fudayl and Jareer bin Abdul-Hameed Dabbi, both from Umara bin Qaqa. The hadith is in al-Muntaqa 866, where it says, the group reported it except Tirmidhi. See what has already passed in the Musnad of Ali, 729.
