I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, "The Hour will not come until the sun rises from its place of setting. When it rises and people see it, everyone on earth will believe. But that will be the time when 'no soul will benefit from its faith if it had not believed before or earned good through its faith'" [Anam 6:158].
حدثنا محمد بن فضيل حدثنا عمارة عن أبي زرعة
سمعت رسول الله ﷺ يقول لا تقوم الساعة حتى تطلع الشمس من مغربها فإذا طلعت ورآها الناس آمن من عليها فذلك حين {لا ينفع نفسا إيمانها لم تكن آمنت من قبل أو كسبت في إيمانها خيرا}
Its isnad is sahih. Bukhari related it, 223, by way of Abdul-Wahid bin Ziyad from Umara, with the same wording. He also related it from Uqbah by another route, then related it a third time, 11:303–304, by a third route. Ibn Kathir quoted Bukhari's versions in his tafsir, 3:433, then said, As for the first route, the rest of the group related it in their books, except Tirmidhi, through various chains, from Umara bin Qaqa bin Shubruma, from Abu Zura bin Amr bin Jareer, from Abu Hurairah, with the same wording. Suyuti also quoted it in Durr Manthur, 3:57, and added that it was attributed to Abd bin Humayd, Abdul-Razzaq, Ibn Munzir, Abu Shaykh, Ibn Mardawayh, and Bayhaqi in his book Bath.
