Its isnad is sahih. Umar bin Abu Salama bin Abdul-Rahman bin Awf, we previously judged his reliability as sound in 1674, and we add here that Ibn Abu Hatim gave his biography in al-Jarh wal-Tadil 117/1/3–118.The hadith was narrated by the compilers of the six books, through more than one route, from Abu Hurairah, with similar wording. See Bukhari 9:164–165 Fath, Muslim 1:400, Tirmidhi 2:179, and al-Muntaqa 3463.The Hafiz in al-Fath pointed to this narration of Umar bin Abu Salama, but attributed it to Ibn Munzir, failing to attribute it to the Musnad. See also what has already passed in the Musnad of Ibn Abbas, 3421.
