It is as if I can still see Ali bin Abu Talib mounted on the white mule of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ when he stood at the pass of the Ansar during the Farewell Pilgrimage, saying, "People, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ says these are not days of fasting. They are days of eating, drinking, and remembrance of Allah."
Its isnad is sahih. The mother of Masud bin Hakam was a female companion, her name was Habibah bint Shurayq (with a fatha on the shin), though it is also said her name was Asma. See Al-Isabah 8/13, 50, 280, which mentions that the hadith was narrated by Nasai. See also 567.
