The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Whoever from my nation wears gold and dies while wearing it will not wear the gold of Paradise." Hawdha said in his version, "Allah will forbid him the gold of Paradise. And whoever from my nation wears silk and dies while wearing it, Allah will forbid him the silk of Paradise."Abdullah said, "My father struck out this hadith, and I assumed he struck it out because it contains an error. It is actually narrated by Maymun bin Ustadh from Abdullah bin Amr, without mentioning Sadafi in the chain. It is said that this Maymun is Sadafi himself, because Yazid bin Harun's hearing from Jareeri took place at the end of Jareeri's life. And Allah knows best."
مضروب عليه حدثنا إسحاق بن يوسف الأزرق وهوذة بن خليفة قالا حدثنا عوف عن ميمون بن أستاذ قال هوذة الهزاني قال
قال رسول الله ﷺ من لبس الذهب من أمتي فمات وهو يلبسه لم يلبس من ذهب الجنة وقال هوذة حرم الله عليه ذهب الجنة ومن لبس الحرير من أمتي فمات وهو يلبسه حرم الله عليه حرير الجنة قال عبد الله ضرب أبي على هذا الحديث فظننت أنه ضرب عليه لأنه خطأ وإنما هو ميمون بن أستاذ عن عبد الله بن عمرو وليس فيه عن الصدفي ويقال إن ميمون هذا هو الصدفي لأن سماع يزيد بن هارون من الجريري آخر عمره والله أعلم
Its isnad is sahih. Hawdhah bin Khalifah bin Abdullah Thaqafi, Abu Ashhab Bakrawi Asamm, was trustworthy and one of the senior teachers of Ahmad, who affirmed his reliability, saying, "How sound his hadith was," and also said, "How precise this Asamm was," meaning Hawdhah, narrating from Awf Arabi. Ibn Hibban listed him among the trustworthy narrators, and Bukhari gave his biography in al-Kabir 4/2/246, as did Ibn Saad in Tabaqat 7/2/80, and Khatib in Tarikh Baghdad 14:94-96. Ibn Saad mentioned that he was born in the year 125, and died in Baghdad ten nights into Shawwal in the year 216.This hadith is a repetition of 6556.
