Mutarrif bin Abdullah reported,

Nawf and Abdullah bin Amr met together, and Nawf began narrating the hadith. Then Abdullah bin Amr bin As said, "I will tell you something from the Prophet ﷺ. We prayed with the Prophet ﷺ one night. Some stayed behind to pray more, while others left. Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ came back before the people had begun stirring for the night prayer. He arrived breathing heavily, raising his finger like this," and he made the sign of twenty-nine, pointing his index finger toward the sky.He was saying, "Rejoice, company of Muslims! This is your Lord . He has opened one of the gates of heaven, boasting of you to the angels. He says, 'My angels, look at these servants of Mine. They have completed one obligatory prayer and are awaiting another.'"

عن مطرف بن عبد الله بن الشخير

أن نوفا وعبد الله بن عمرو اجتمعا فقال نوف فذكر الحديث فقال عبد الله بن عمرو بن العاص وأنا أحدثك عن النبي ﷺ صلينا مع النبي ﷺ ذات ليلة فعقب من عقب ورجع من رجع فجاء رسول الله ﷺ قبل أن يثور الناس بصلاة العشاء فجاء وقد حفزه النفس رافعا إصبعه هكذا وعقد تسعا وعشرين وأشار بإصبعه السبابة إلى السماء وهو يقول أبشروا معشر المسلمين هذا ربكم عز وجل قد فتح بابا من أبواب السماء يباهي بكم الملائكة يقول يا ملائكتي انظروا إلى عبادي هؤلاء أدوا فريضة وهم ينتظرون أخرى
