Ubaydullah bin Ziyad expressed doubt about the Pool. So Abu Sabra, a man from the companions of Ubaydullah bin Ziyad, said to him, "When your father set out as an envoy to Muawiya, I went with him. I met Abdullah bin Amr, and he related to me, mouth to mouth, a hadith he had heard from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. He dictated it to me and I wrote it down."Ubaydullah said, "I implore you, by the oath I place upon you, you must make this mule sweat until you bring me that document."Abu Sabra said, "So I mounted the mule and rode it hard until it sweated, then I brought him the document. In it was written, Abdullah bin Amr bin As told me that he heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, 'Allah hates obscenity and the deliberate use of obscene speech. By the One in whose hand is the soul of Muhammad, the Hour will not come until the trustworthy is betrayed and the treacherous is entrusted, until obscenity and indecent speech appear, along with the severing of family ties and bad treatment of neighbors. By the One in whose hand is the soul of Muhammad, the believer is like a piece of gold whose owner blows upon it, yet it neither changes nor diminishes. By the One in whose hand is the soul of Muhammad, the believer is like a bee that eats what is wholesome and produces what is wholesome, and when it lands it does not break or spoil anything.'He also said, 'Indeed, I have a Pool whose two sides are as far apart as the distance between Aylah and Makkah,' or he said, 'between Sanaa and Madinah. In it are pitchers as numerous as the stars. Its water is whiter than milk and sweeter than honey. Whoever drinks from it will never thirst again.'"Abu Sabra said, "Then Ubaydullah bin Ziyad took the document, and I was distressed at losing it. Yahya bin Yamar met me, and I complained to him about it. He said, 'By Allah, I memorize it better than I do a surah of the Quran.' Then he related it to me exactly as it had been in the document."
حدثنا عبد الرزاق أخبرنا معمر عن مطر
شك عبيد الله بن زياد في الحوض فقال له أبو سبرة رجل من صحابة عبيد الله بن زياد فإن أباك حين انطلق وافدا إلى معاوية انطلقت معه فلقيت عبد الله بن عمرو فحدثني من فيه إلى في حديثا سمعه من رسول الله ﷺ فأملاه علي وكتبته قال فإني أقسمت عليك لما أعرقت هذا البرذون حتى تأتيني بالكتاب قال فركبت البرذون فركضته حتى عرق فأتيته بالكتاب فإذا فيه حدثني عبد الله بن عمرو بن العاص أنه سمع رسول الله ﷺ قال إن الله يبغض الفحش والتفحش والذي نفس محمد بيده لا تقوم الساعة حتى يخون الأمين ويؤتمن الخائن حتى يظهر الفحش والتفحش وقطيعة الأرحام وسوء الجوار والذي نفس محمد بيده إن مثل المؤمن لكمثل القطعة من الذهب نفخ عليها صاحبها فلم تغير ولم تنقص والذي نفس محمد بيده إن مثل المؤمن لكمثل النحلة أكلت طيبا ووضعت طيبا ووقعت فلم تكسر ولم تفسد قال وقال ألا إن لي حوضا ما بين ناحيتيه كما بين أيلة إلى مكة أو قال صنعاء إلى المدينة وإن فيه من الأباريق مثل الكواكب هو أشد بياضا من اللبن وأحلى من العسل من شرب منه لم يظمأ بعدها أبدا قال أبو سبرة فأخذ عبيد الله بن زياد الكتاب فجزعت عليه فلقيني يحيى بن يعمر فشكوت ذلك إليه فقال والله لأنا أحفظ له مني لسورة من القرآن فحدثني به كما كان في الكتاب سواء
