A man came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ seeking his permission to go out for jihad.The Prophet ﷺ asked, "Are your parents alive?"The man replied, "Yes."He said, "Then strive in serving them."Bahz said, Ibn Abu Thabit informed me from Abu Abbas, who said, I asked Abdullah bin Umar.
حدثنا عفان وبهز قالا حدثنا شعبة عن حبيب بن أبي ثابت قال سمعت أبا العباس وكان رجلا شاعرا سمعت
جاء رجل إلى رسول الله ﷺ فاستأذنه في الجهاد فقال أحي والداك قال نعم قال ففيهما فجاهد قال بهز أخبرني ابن أبي ثابت عن أبي العباس قال سألت عبد الله بن عمرو
Its isnad is sahih, and it is a repetition of 6812. As for the statement at the end of the hadith, "Bahz said, Ibn Abu Thabit informed me," and so on, what is meant is that Bahz's narration from Shubah contains Shubah's explicit statement that he heard it from Habib bin Abu Thabit, as already occurred in 6812. Anyone who has not mastered the science of hadith criticism will err in a case like this, thinking that Bahz himself is the one saying "informed me," and so on. What is actually meant is that Bahz said this in his narration from Shubah, quoting Shubah's own words.As for Abu Abbas's statement, in this narration of Bahz, "I asked Abdullah bin Amr," what is meant is that he asked him about this hadith, or about this ruling, so he related this hadith to him. This is what is established in H and K. In M it has "I heard" instead of "I asked," along with the addition of "[Ibn Amr]" at the end, which comes from H, and it is established in a copy in the margin of K and M.
