The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "The son of Adam cannot make a vow concerning what he does not own, nor can he free a slave he does not own, nor can he divorce a woman he is not married to, nor can he take an oath concerning what he does not own."

قال رسول الله ﷺ لا نذر لابن آدم فيما لا يملك ولا عتق لابن آدم فيما لا يملك ولا طلاق له فيما لا يملك ولا يمين فيما لا يملك
