The Prophet ﷺ heard some people arguing with one another, so he said, "Those before you were destroyed only because of this. They struck parts of Allah's Book against other parts, but Allah's Book was revealed with its parts confirming one another. So do not deny one part by means of another. Whatever you know of it, speak of it, and whatever you do not know, leave it to one who does."
Its isnad is sahih. It is a shortened version, in meaning, of 6702, which we noted there, and we mentioned that Bukhari related it in Khalq al-Afaal, p. 78. Ibn Kathir quoted it in his tafsir, 2:101-102, from this very passage, but the phrase "Abdul-Razzaq narrated to us" was dropped from the beginning of its isnad, which is clearly a printing error. Suyuti also quoted it in Durr Manthur, 2:6, attributing it to Ahmad alone. His saying "yatadarawn" means they were pushing against and disputing with one another.
