The Messenger of Allah ﷺ was asked about the aqiqah, and he said, "Allah does not love disobedience (uquq)," as if he disliked the name itself.The people said, "Messenger of Allah, we are only asking you about a child born to one of us."He said, "Whoever among you wishes to offer a sacrifice for his child, let him do so. For a boy, two equivalent sheep, and for a girl, one sheep."He was also asked about the firstborn offspring of livestock (faraa). He said, "The faraa is a duty, but it is better that you leave it until it grows sturdy, becoming a young camel of one or two years, then you give it as a mount in the cause of Allah or donate it to a widow. That is better than slaughtering it while still young, when its flesh sticks to its hair, you overturn your milk vessel, and you leave its mother bereaved."He was also asked about the atirah. He said, "The atirah is a duty."Some of the people said to Amr bin Shuayb, "What is the atirah?"He replied, "They used to slaughter a sheep in Rajab, then cook it, eat from it, and feed others."
حدثنا عبد الرزاق أخبرنا داود بن قيس
سئل رسول الله ﷺ عن العقيقة فقال إن الله لا يحب العقوق وكأنه كره الاسم قالوا يا رسول الله إنما نسألك عن أحدنا يولد له قال من أحب منكم أن ينسك عن ولده فليفعل عن الغلام شاتان مكافأتان وعن الجارية شاة قال وسئل عن الفرع قال والفرع حق وأن تتركه حتى يكون شغزبا أو شغزوبا ابن مخاض أو ابن لبون فتحمل عليه في سبيل الله أو تعطيه أرملة خير من أن تذبحه يلصق لحمه بوبره وتكفئ إناءك وتوله ناقتك وقال وسئل عن العتيرة فقال العتيرة حق قال بعض القوم لعمرو بن شعيب ما العتيرة قال كانوا يذبحون في رجب شاة فيطبخون ويأكلون ويطعمون
