The Prophet ﷺ saw a gold ring on one of his companions and turned away from him. The man threw it away and took a ring of iron instead. The Prophet ﷺ said, "This is worse. This is the jewelry of the people of the Fire."So he threw it away and took a ring of silver, and the Prophet ﷺ said nothing about it.
Its isnad is sahih, and it is a repeat of 6518 with this same isnad, which we noted there. As for his saying "ashirr," this is how it is recorded here in the three original manuscripts, and it follows an uncommon dialectal form, while the well-known standard form is "shirr" without the hamza, which is what appears in the previous narration, and likewise it appears here in a marginal copy of manuscript M. Sahih.
