I heard the Prophet ﷺ say, "There is no raiding party that goes out to fight in the path of Allah and obtains spoils except that they have hastened two-thirds of their reward from the Hereafter, and one-third remains for them. But if they do not obtain any spoils, their reward is complete for them."
حدثنا أبو عبد الرحمن حدثنا حيوة وابن لهيعة قالا حدثنا أبو هانئ الخولاني أنه سمع أبا عبد الرحمن الحبلي يقول سمعت
سمعت النبي ﷺ يقول ما من غازية تغزو في سبيل الله فيصيبون غنيمة إلا تعجلوا ثلثي أجرهم من الآخرة ويبقى لهم الثلث فإن لم يصيبوا غنيمة تم لهم أجرهم
Its chain of transmission is sahih. Haywa is Haywa bin Shurayh. Abu Hani is Humayd bin Hani Khawlani. Abu Abdul-Rahman Hubli is Abdullah bin Yazid Maafiri.The hadith was narrated by Abu Dawud, 2497 (2:316 Awn al-Mabud), through the route of Abdullah bin Yazid, who is Abu Abdul-Rahman, with this chain. It was also narrated by Muslim, 2:103, Nasai, 2:56–57, and Ibn Majah, 2:94, all three through the route of Abdullah bin Yazid as well, from Haywa bin Shurayh alone, with this chain. They did not mention in it the narration of Ibn Lahia, except that Nasai alluded to it, saying, "And he mentioned another," this other one being Ibn Lahia.Munziri overlooked this in his referencing in Tahzib Sunan, 2387, and did not attribute it to Ibn Majah, whereas he did attribute it to him in Targhib wal-Tarhib, 2:183. Ibn Abdul-Hakam narrated it in Futuh Misr, 256, through the route of Ibn Lahia alone. Muslim also narrated it in a similar wording, through the route of Nafi bin Yazid, from Ibn Hani.Regarding al-ghaziyah, Ibn Athir said, "It is the feminine form of al-ghazi, and here it is a description of a group engaged in a military expedition."
