Some men among the companions of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ were mentioned to him as exerting themselves intensely in worship. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "That is the eagerness of Islam and its zeal. Every eagerness has a zeal, and every zeal has a period of slackening. Whoever's slackening turns toward the Book and the Sunnah, then how excellent he is. But whoever's slackening turns toward disobedience of Allah, then that one is destroyed."

ذكر لرسول الله ﷺ رجال ينصبون في العبادة من أصحابه نصبا شديدا قال فقال رسول الله ﷺ تلك ضراوة الإسلام وشرته ولكل ضراوة شرة ولكل شرة فترة فمن كانت فترته إلى الكتاب والسنة فلأم ما هو ومن كانت فترته إلى معاصي الله فذلك الهالك
