Its chain is sahih. Ibn Abu Dhib is Muhammad bin Abdul-Rahman bin Mughira bin Harith bin Abu Dhib, whose reliability was established earlier at 1411. We add here the statement of Abu Dawud, "I heard Ahmad say, Ibn Abu Dhib was comparable to Saeed bin Musayab. It was said to Ahmad, Was there anyone like him in his land? He said, No, nor anywhere else." Bukhari gave his biography in al-Kabir, 1/2:152-153.This hadith was narrated by Tayalisi, 2276, from Ibn Abu Dhib. It was also narrated by Abu Dawud, 3580 (3:326-327 of Awn al-Mabud), Tirmidhi, 2:279, Ibn Majah, 2:26-27, and Hakim in al-Mustadrak, 4:102-103, all of them through the route of Ibn Abu Dhib, with this same chain.Tirmidhi said, "This is a hasan sahih hadith." He also said, "I heard Abdullah bin Abdul-Rahman [meaning Darimi] say, The hadith of Abu Salama from Abdullah bin Amr from the Prophet ﷺ is the best and most sahih thing on this subject."Hakim said, "The hadith has a sahih chain, though the two of them [Bukhari and Muslim] did not include it," and Dhahabi agreed with him.Munziri attributed it in Mukhtasar Abu Dawud, 2436, to Ibn Majah alone, which is a shortcoming on his part, since he had mentioned it in al-Targhib wal-Tarhib, 3:142-143, and attributed it there to Abu Dawud, Tirmidhi, Ibn Majah, Ibn Hibban in his Sahih, and Hakim. It will come again repeatedly through the hadith of Ibn Umar, at 6778, 6779, 6830, 6984, and through the hadith of Abu Hurairah, at 9011, 9019.As for rishwah (bribery), with the ra either vowelled with a kasra or a damma, it means the means by which one attains what one seeks through currying favor. Its root comes from al-risha, the rope by which water is drawn up. So the rashi (briber) is the one who gives something to help another achieve something false, and the murtashi (bribe-taker) is the one who takes it. So said Ibn Athir.
