He heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, "Convey from me, even if it be a single verse. Narrate from the Children of Israil, there is no harm in that. But whoever lies about me deliberately, let him take his seat in the Fire."
حدثنا الوليد بن مسلم أخبرنا الأوزاعي حدثني حسان بن عطية حدثني أبو كبشة السلولي أن
أنه سمع رسول الله ﷺ يعني يقول بلغوا عني ولو آية وحدثوا عن بني إسرائيل ولا حرج ومن كذب علي متعمدا فليتبوأ مقعده من النار
Its isnad is sahih. Walid bin Muslim Dimashqi, his reliability was already established at 1889, and we add here that Bukhari mentioned him in Tarikh al-Kabir 2/152–153. Abu Kabsha, with a quiescent unpointed ba and an opened pointed shin. Saluli Shami was a trustworthy successor.Bukhari related the hadith at 6:361 from Abu Asim Nabil, Dahhak bin Makhlad. Tirmidhi related it at 3:376 from Muhammad bin Bashshar, from Abu Asim, from Uzai, with this same isnad, and Tirmidhi said, this is a sahih hadith. He also related it through the path of Abdul-Rahman bin Thabit bin Thawban, from Hassan bin Atiya, and said, this is a hasan sahih hadith. See also 6478.
