Its chain of transmission is sahih. Aidh bin Nusayb Asadi is trustworthy. Bukhari mentioned him in al-Kabir 4/1/59 and said, he heard from Ibn Umar, and Shubah and his son Hisham narrated from him. Ibn Abu Hatim also mentioned him in al-Jarh wal-Tadil 3/162, and reported with his chain from Yahya bin Main that he said, Aidh bin Nusayb is trustworthy. Husayni made a strange claim, saying he is not well known, unidentified. But the Hafiz did not follow up on this in al-Taqib 207 with anything like what we have mentioned. As for Nusayb, I found no explicit statement on its vocalization, but it was marked in manuscript M with the diminutive form, which is correct, Allah willing. Among the well known names there is Nusayb the poet, in the diminutive form, and had this name been vocalized differently they would have noted it, as is their custom in distinguishing between similarly written names. The hadith is in Musnad Tayalisi, 1908, with this same chain. Its meaning has already come up repeatedly, both at length and in brief, through other routes, the most recent being 6231 and 6238.
