The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "When you see the crescent, begin fasting, and when you see it again, end your fast. If it is obscured from you, then estimate it."
حدثنا أبو كامل حدثنا إبراهيم حدثنا ابن شهاب عن سالم
قال رسول الله ﷺ إذا رأيتم الهلال فصوموا وإذا رأيتموه فأفطروا فإن غم عليكم فاقدروا له
Its isnad is sahih. Ibrahim is Ibn Saad bin Ibrahim bin Abdul-Rahman bin Awf Zuhri. The hadith is a repeat of 5294, and an abridgment of 4488.
