The Prophet ﷺ cut off the hand of a man who stole a shield from the women's section of the mosque, valued at three dirhams.
حدثنا عبد الرزاق أخبرنا ابن جريج أخبرني إسماعيل بن أمية أن نافعا مولى عبد الله حدثه أن
أن النبي ﷺ قطع يد رجل سرق ترسا من صفة النساء ثمنه ثلاثة دراهم
Its isnad is sahih. Its meaning has already occurred in brief several times, the first being 4503 and the last 6293.Al-suffah, with damma on the sad and a doubled, fatha-vowelled fa, means something like a wide, long hall. The suffah of the women was the place designated for them in the masjid, and this is different from the suffah famously associated with the People of the Suffah, for that was another place for them in the masjid, where they lived because of their poverty, since they had no dwellings of their own.As for his saying "its price," in one manuscript margin (م) it reads "its value."
