The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to place his mount in front of him and pray facing it.
حدثنا معتمر عن عبيد الله عن نافع
أن رسول الله ﷺ كان يعرض راحلته ويصلي إليها
Its isnad is sahih. Mutamir is Ibn Sulayman bin Tarkhan Taymi, whose reliability was established earlier at 1625, and we add here that he was among the senior teachers of Ahmad. Abu Dawud said, I heard Ahmad say, "How retentive Mutamir bin Sulayman was, we would never ask him about anything without him having something on it." Bukhari gave his biography in Al-Kabir 4/2/49. The hadith is an abridgment of 6128.
