Salim bin Abdullah bin Umar reported,
Abdullah bin Umar used to walk in front of the funeral procession, and he reported that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, along with Abu Bakr, Umar, and Uthman 
, used to walk in front of it.

Sahihحدثنا حجاج حدثنا ليث حدثني عقيل بن خالد عن ابن شهاب أن
سالم بن عبد الله بن عمر أخبره
أن عبد الله بن عمر كان يمشي بين يدي الجنازة وأن رسول الله ﷺ كان يمشي بين يديها وأبو بكر وعمر وعثمان رضي الله عنهم
Its isnad is sahih, and it is a longer version of 6042. We have already discussed at length the question of its being connected or disconnected, and we favored the connected narration in 4539, and likewise in the two supplementary notes 1296 and 1539. This narration of Aqeel from Zuhri is also connected, adding confirmation upon confirmation, and removing every doubt about the soundness of its connection, in addition to the narrations we mentioned before.
