The Messenger of Allah ﷺ was sitting one day with a stick in his hand, scratching at the ground with it. He raised his head and said, "There is not one of you whose place in Paradise or in the Fire has not already been known."They said, "Messenger of Allah, then why should we work?"He replied, "Work, for everyone is made easy toward that for which he was created. 'As for the one who gives and is mindful of Allah and affirms what is best, We shall ease him toward ease. But as for the one who is stingy and considers himself self-sufficient and denies what is best, We shall ease him toward hardship.'" [Layl 92:5–10]
حدثنا أبو معاوية حدثنا الأعمش عن سعد بن عبيدة عن أبي عبد الرحمن السلمي
كان رسول الله ﷺ ذات يوم جالسا وفي يده عود ينكت به قال فرفع رأسه فقال ما منكم من نفس إلا وقد علم منزلها من الجنة والنار قال فقالوا يا رسول الله فلم نعمل قال اعملوا فكل ميسر لما خلق له {أما من أعطى واتقى وصدق بالحسنى فسنيسره لليسرى وأما من بخل واستغنى وكذب بالحسنى فسنيسره للعسرى}
Its isnad is sahih. They said, "O Messenger of Allah," in ح, while he said, "O Messenger of Allah." We corrected it based on ك and هـ. It will come again, abridged and in full, at 1067, 1068, 1110, 1181, and 1348, and it has already appeared at 19.
