I was with Ibn Umar at a funeral when he heard the sound of a person wailing. He sent someone to silence him.I asked, "Abu Abdul-Rahman, why did you have him silenced?"He replied, "The deceased is harmed by it until he is placed in his grave."I then said to him, "I pray the dawn prayer with you, then I turn around and cannot make out the face of the person sitting next to me, though sometimes it is light enough to see clearly."He answered, "This is how I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ pray it, and I wanted to pray it just as I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ pray it."

Its isnad is daif. Abu Shubah al-Tahhan al-Kufi was the neighbor of Amash. The Hafiz said in al-Tajil, 493–494, Daraqutni said, "Discarded." The same is stated in al-Mizan, 3:364, and Lisan Mizan, 6:394.Abu Rabi, the Hafiz said in al-Tajil, 484, Daraqutni said, "Unknown." The same is stated in al-Mizan, 3:358, and Lisan Mizan, 6:378. I did not find a biography for either of them beyond this.The hadith is in Majma al-Zawaid, 1:316, where he said, "Ahmad narrated it," and Abu Sarih, concerning whom Daraqutni said, "Unknown." He confined his criticism to this alone, when it would have been more fitting for him to mention as the criticism that Abu Shubah is discarded.Many hadiths from Ibn Umar concerning weeping over the dead have already passed, the last of them being 6182.
