He heard the Prophet of Allah ﷺ say that when Allah the Exalted sent Adam ﷺ down to the earth, the angels said, "My Lord, 'Will You place upon it one who will cause corruption therein and shed blood, while we glorify You with praise and sanctify You? He said, Indeed, I know that which you do not know'" [Baqarah 2:30].They said, "Our Lord, we are more obedient to You than the children of Adam."Allah the Exalted said to the angels, "Bring forward two angels from among you so that they may be sent down to the earth, and We shall see how they behave."They said, "Our Lord, Harut and Marut."So the two were sent down to the earth, and Venus appeared to them in the form of a woman of the most beautiful human appearance. She came to them, and they asked her for herself.She said, "No, by Allah, not until you both speak this word of polytheism."They said, "By Allah, we will never associate anything with Allah."She left them, then returned carrying a small boy. They asked her for herself.She said, "No, by Allah, not until you both kill this boy."They said, "By Allah, we will never kill him."She left, then returned carrying a cup of wine. They asked her for herself.She said, "No, by Allah, not until you both drink this wine."So they drank, became intoxicated, lay with her, and killed the boy. When they came to their senses, the woman said, "By Allah, there is nothing you refused me that you have not now done while you were drunk."They were then given the choice between the punishment of this world and the punishment of the Hereafter, and they chose the punishment of this world.
حدثنا يحيى بن أبي بكير حدثنا زهير بن محمد عن موسى بن جبير عن نافع مولى عبد الله بن عمر
أنه سمع نبي الله ﷺ يقول إن آدم ﷺ لما أهبطه الله تعالى إلى الأرض قالت الملائكة أي رب {أتجعل فيها من يفسد فيها ويسفك الدماء ونحن نسبح بحمدك ونقدس لك قال إني أعلم ما لا تعلمون} قالوا ربنا نحن أطوع لك من بني آدم قال الله تعالى للملائكة هلموا ملكين من الملائكة حتى يهبط بهما إلى الأرض فننظر كيف يعملان قالوا ربنا هاروت وماروت فأهبطا إلى الأرض ومثلت لهما الزهرة امرأة من أحسن البشر فجاءتهما فسألاها نفسها فقالت لا والله حتى تكلما بهذه الكلمة من الإشراك فقالا والله لا نشرك بالله أبدا فذهبت عنهما ثم رجعت بصبي تحمله فسألاها نفسها فقالت لا والله حتى تقتلا هذا الصبي فقالا والله لا نقتله أبدا فذهبت ثم رجعت بقدح خمر تحمله فسألاها نفسها قالت لا والله حتى تشربا هذا الخمر فشربا فسكرا فوقعا عليها وقتلا الصبي فلما أفاقا قالت المرأة والله ما تركتما شيئا مما أبيتماه علي إلا قد فعلتما حين سكرتما فخيرا بين عذاب الدنيا والآخرة فاختارا عذاب الدنيا
