The Messenger of Allah ﷺ ordered me to bring him a mudya, which is a large knife, so I brought it to him. He sent it off to be sharpened, then gave it back to me and said, "Come to me with it in the morning." I did so.He went out with his companions to the markets of Madinah, where there were skins of wine that had been brought from Syria. He took the knife from me and slashed open those skins in his presence, then gave the knife back to me. He ordered the companions who were with him to go along with me and assist me, and he commanded me to go to every market and slash open any wineskin I found there. I did so, and I did not leave a single wineskin in any of the markets without slashing it open.

Its isnad is hasan or sahih, despite the weakness found in it regarding Abu Bakr bin Abdullah bin Abu Maryam, as we mentioned when grading him daif in 113 and 1464, because his weakness was only due to his deterioration in old age and poor memory. However, this narration of his is supported by what preceded with similar meaning, with a sahih isnad in 5390, through the route of Ibn Lahia, from Abu Tumah, from Ibn Umar. That is why Haythami mentioned this hadith in Majma al-Zawaid 5:53–54, then said, "And in a narration from Ibn Umar," citing the previous hadith 5390, then said, "Ahmad narrated all of it with two chains of transmission. In one of them is Abu Bakr bin Abu Maryam, whose memory became confused in old age, and in the other is Abu Tumah, whom Muhammad bin Abdullah bin Ammar Mawsili deemed reliable, while Makhul graded him daif. The rest of its narrators are trustworthy."Damrah, with a fatha on the dal and a sakin on the mim, bin Habib bin Suhayb Zubaydi Himsi, was a trustworthy Successor. He was deemed reliable by Ibn Main, Ibn Saad, and others. Bukhari gave his biography in Tarikh al-Kabir 2/2/338.Shafrah, with a fatha on the shin, means a broad knife. "Fa arhafat" means it was sharpened and its edge drawn out. Marhuf and murhaf mean something slender and delicate in body.
