He heard the Prophet ﷺ say, "Each of you is a shepherd, and each of you is responsible for his flock. The ruler is a shepherd and is responsible for his flock. A man is a shepherd over his household and is responsible for his flock. A woman is a shepherdess in her husband's home and is responsible for her flock. A servant is a shepherd over his master's property and is responsible for his flock."The narrator said, "I heard these from the Prophet ﷺ, and I believe the Prophet ﷺ also said, 'A man is a shepherd over his father's property and is responsible for his flock. So each of you is a shepherd, and each of you is responsible for his flock.'"
Its isnad is sahih, and it is the fuller version of 5901, with the addition in this narration, "and I think the Prophet ﷺ said, and the man is a shepherd over his father's wealth, and he is responsible for what he shepherds," found in Sahih Muslim after he narrated the hadith through multiple chains, 2:82, where he said, and he added in the hadith of Zuhri, he said, and I think he said, "the man," and so on. This gives the impression that the doubt belongs to Zuhri. But the context here indicates that it belongs to Ibn Umar himself, because he said, "I heard these from the Prophet ﷺ," and then said, "and I think," and so on. It appears that he heard this addition from some of the companions and was not certain of it, so he related it in this manner.
