I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, "Whoever sees himself as great or walks with arrogance will meet Allah while He is angry with him."
Its isnad is sahih. Yahya bin Ishaq Bajali Saylahini has already had his reliability established under , and we add here that Bukhari mentioned him in Kabir 4/2/259. Yunus bin Qasim Hanafi Yamami is trustworthy, Ibn Main, Daraqutni, and others confirmed his reliability, and Bukhari mentioned him in Kabir 4/2/410.Bukhari related the hadith in Adab al-Mufrad 81 from Musaddad from Yunus bin Qasim, with this same isnad. Haythami mentioned it in Majma al-Zawaid 1:98 and said, "Ahmad related it, and its narrators are the narrators of the Sahih." Suyuti mentioned it in Jami Saghir 8598 and attributed it to Ahmad and Adab al-Mufrad. Munziri mentioned it in Targhib wa Tarhib 4:20 and said, "Tabarani related it in Kabir, and this is his wording, and its narrators are those relied upon in the Sahih, and Hakim related it similarly, and he said, sahih according to the criterion of Muslim."Regarding his words "or walked with arrogance", in Jami Saghir it appears as "and walked with arrogance" with a wa, while what is given here is what is established in the three original manuscripts, in Adab al-Mufrad, and in Majma al-Zawaid. As for his words "his gait", in
it is "his walking", but what we have adopted is better, and it is what appears in
,
, and the rest of the references.
