Abdullah bin Badr reported,

He set out with a group of his companions on pilgrimage until they reached Mecca. They entered the Mosque, touched the Black Stone, then circled the House seven times and prayed two cycles behind the Station of Ibrahim. Suddenly a large man wearing a lower garment and an upper cloak called out to them near the basin. We went over to him, and I asked who he was. They said, "Ibn Abbas."When we came to him, he asked, "Who are you?"We answered, "People from the East," and there were also people from Yamamah present.He asked, "Performing Hajj, or Umrah?"I said, "Hajj."He said, "Then you have invalidated your Hajj."I said, "I have performed Hajj many times and have always done it this way."So we left from where we were and went to Ibn Umar. I said, "Ibn Umar, we have just arrived," and we recounted to him what had happened and told him what Ibn Abbas had said, that we had invalidated our Hajj.He said, "I remind you by Allah, did you set out intending Hajj?"We said, "Yes."He said, "By Allah, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, Abu Bakr, and Umar all performed Hajj, and each of them did exactly as you have done."

حدثني عبد الله بن بدر

أنه خرج في نفر من أصحابه حجاجا حتى وردوا مكة فدخلوا المسجد فاستلموا الحجر ثم طفنا بالبيت أسبوعا ثم صلينا خلف المقام ركعتين فإذا رجل ضخم في إزار ورداء يصوت بنا عند الحوض فقمنا إليه وسألت عنه فقالوا ابن عباس فلما أتيناه قال من أنتم قلنا أهل المشرق وثم أهل اليمامة قال فحجاج أم عمار قلت بل حجاج قال فإنكم قد نقضتم حجكم قلت قد حججت مرارا فكنت أفعل كذا قال فانطلقنا مكاننا حتى يأتي ابن عمر فقلت يا ابن عمر إنا قدمنا فقصصنا عليه قصتنا وأخبرناه ما قال إنكم نقضتم حجكم قال أذكركم بالله أخرجتم حجاجا قلنا نعم فقال والله لقد حج رسول الله ﷺ وأبو بكر وعمر كلهم فعل مثل ما فعلتم
