The Messenger of Allah ﷺ entered the Kaabah along with Uthman bin Talha, Usama bin Zayd, and Bilal, and the door was shut behind them. When he came out, I asked Bilal, "What did the Messenger of Allah ﷺ do inside?"Bilal replied, "He left two pillars on his right, one pillar on his left, and three pillars behind him, then he prayed, with three cubits between him and the qiblah."Ishaq said, "The House at that time stood on six pillars," and he did not mention the pillar that was between him and the qiblah.
حدثنا عبد الرحمن بن مهدي حدثنا مالك وإسحاق قال أنبأنا مالك عن نافع
أن رسول الله ﷺ دخل الكعبة وعثمان بن طلحة وأسامة بن زيد وبلال فأغلقها فلما خرج سألت بلالا ماذا صنع رسول الله ﷺ قال ترك عمودين عن يمينه وعمودا عن يساره وثلاثة أعمدة خلفه ثم صلى وبينه وبين القبلة ثلاثة أذرع قال إسحاق وكان البيت يومئذ على ستة أعمدة ولم يذكر الذي بينه وبين القبلة
Its isnad is sahih. As for his statement, "and Ishaq said, and the House at that time had six pillars," this is not Ishaq bin Isa's own wording added on his own account. Rather, he means that he mentioned this in his narration from Malik, while Abdul-Rahman bin Mahdi did not mention it, and that Abdul-Rahman mentioned the distance between him and the qibla, but did not mention the number of pillars of the House. What supports this is that this addition of Ishaq's is established in the Muwatta, in the narration of Yahya bin Yahya, 1:354, and the narration of Muhammad bin Hasan, 228.As for his statement, "three cubits," in one copy in the margin of M it reads "three" without the feminine ending.
