The Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbade continuous fasting without breaking it.Someone asked him, "But do you not yourself fast continuously?"He replied, "I am fed and given drink."
حدثنا إسحاق حدثنا مالك عن نافع
نهى رسول الله ﷺ عن الوصال فقال أولست تواصل قال إني أطعم وأسقى
Its isnad is sahih, and it is an abridgment of 5795. It appears in the Muwatta with similar wording, 1/280, and we have already noted the Muwatta narration at 4721. It reads, "He said, 'Are you not continuously fasting?'" meaning "someone said," or something to that effect. In a copy in the margin of M, it reads "it was said," which is clear.
