Its isnad is sahih. Jareer bin Hazim bin Abdullah Azdi, his reliability was established earlier at 725, and we add here that he was deemed reliable by Shubah, Ibn Main, and others. Bukhari included his biography in al-Kabir 1/2/213. It is reported that Shubah said, "I have not seen anyone in Basra more retentive in memory than two men, Hisham Dastawai and Jareer bin Hazim." Some critics found fault with him because his condition changed in his later life, but this is not a valid criticism, for Abdul-Rahman bin Mahdi said, "Jareer bin Hazim became confused in memory, and he had sons who were students of hadith. When they sensed this in him, they kept people away from him, so no one heard anything from him during his period of confusion." This is among the most reliable precautions taken to guard against error.Here, in and , it appears as "Jareer bin Abu Hazim," which is a plain error caused by the addition of the word "Abu." Curiously, in it appeared correctly as "Jareer bin Hazim," but then the word "Abu" was written above it between the lines. What seems clear to me is that this is an old error in the manuscripts of the Musnad, so we have removed this word.As for his statement, "He said, I came to Ibn Abbas," in a copy in the margin of it reads, "Ibn Jubayr said, So I came."
