We were in an orchard belonging to us, or belonging to Ubaydullah bin Abdullah bin Umar, practicing archery. When the time for prayer came, Ubaydullah went to a water reservoir in the orchard which contained a camel hide, and he began performing ablution from it.I asked, "Are you performing ablution from it when this hide is in it?"He replied, "My father told me that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'When water reaches two or three qullahs, it does not become impure.'"

كنا في بستان لنا أو لعبيد الله بن عبد الله بن عمر نرمي فحضرت الصلاة فقام عبيد الله إلى مقرى البستان فيه جلد بعير فأخذ يتوضأ فيه فقلت أتتوضأ فيه وفيه هذا الجلد فقال حدثني أبي أن رسول الله ﷺ قال إذا كان الماء قلتين أو ثلاثا فإنه لا ينجس
Its isnad is sahih, and it is a longer version of 4753. Ibn Qayyim referred to this longer version in his commentary on Tahzib Sunan by Munziri (1:58), mentioning that it was narrated by Yazid bin Harun, Kamil bin Talha, Ibrahim bin Hajjaj, and Hudba bin Khalid, from Hammad bin Salama. He neglected to mention that Ahmad narrated it in this place from Affan from Hammad bin Salama, and that he had earlier narrated it in abridged form from Waki from Hammad bin Salama, 4753. Ibn Qayyim discussed this hadith at length there (1:56–74).
