Abdullah used to pray during the night and perform the witr while riding on his camel, not concerning himself with which direction it faced.He said, "I saw Salim doing the same. Nafi informed me from Abdullah that he used to relate this practice from the Prophet ﷺ."
حدثنا عفان حدثنا وهيب حدثنا موسى بن عقبة
أن عبد الله كان يصلي في الليل ويوتر راكبا على بعيره لا يبالي حيث وجهه قال وقد رأيت أنا سالما يصنع ذلك وقد أخبرني نافع عن عبد الله أنه كان يأثر ذلك عن النبي ﷺ

Its isnad is sahih. Abu Dawud narrated it in similar wording (1:473) through Zuhri, from Salim, from his father, as a marfu narration. Munziri said (1178), Bukhari, Muslim, and Nasai reported it. See also 4530 and 5557.
