The Prophet ﷺ said, "When one of you prays, let him not spit toward the qiblah, for the Most Merciful is before him. Nor should he spit to his right, but rather to his left or beneath his left foot."
حدثنا معاوية بن عمرو حدثنا زائدة حدثنا ليث بن أبي سليم عن نافع
عن النبي ﷺ قال إذا صلى أحدكم فلا يتنخمن تجاه القبلة فإن تجاهه الرحمن ولا عن يمينه ولكن عن شماله أو تحت قدمه اليسرى
Its isnad is sahih. Muawiya bin Amr bin Muhallab Azdi, Abu Amr Baghdadi, his reliability was already established at 657, and we add here that Bukhari gave him a biographical entry in al-Kabir 4/1/334. In ح it appears as "Abu Muawiya bin Amr," which is an error, we have corrected it from ك and م. Zaida is Ibn Qudama. The hadith is an abridged version in meaning of 5408, but there it comes through the route of Layth bin Saad from Nafi.Tijah, it is said tijahaka and wijahaka, with the ta and the waw either with damma or with kasra, meaning "facing you, directly in front of you." In Lisan 17:455, Sibawayh used al-tijah as both a noun and an adverb of place. In Nihaya 4:197, the ta is a substitute for the waw, as in taqah and tukhmah.
