A man came to Ibn Umar while I was sitting with him and asked him about the blood of a mosquito.Ibn Umar asked him, "Where are you from?"The man replied, "From the people of Iraq."Ibn Umar said, "Look at this one! He asks about the blood of a mosquito, yet his people killed the son of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, 'They are my two sweet basils from this world.'"
حدثنا أبو النضر حدثنا مهدي عن محمد بن أبي يعقوب
جاء رجل إلى ابن عمر وأنا جالس فسأله عن دم البعوض فقال له ممن أنت قال من أهل العراق قال ها انظروا إلى هذا يسأل عن دم البعوض وقد قتلوا ابن رسول الله ﷺ وقد سمعت رسول الله ﷺ يقول هما ريحانتي من الدنيا
Its chain of transmission is sahih. Mahdi is Ibn Maymun. Ibn Abu Nam is Abdul-Rahman bin Abu Naim Bajali. The hadith is a repetition of 5568, but there it appears as Ibn Abu Naeem, and we have already explained that this is an old error in the copies of the Musnad. Here it is confirmed in the correct form. We noted there that Bukhari narrated it through the route of Mahdi bin Maymun from Ibn Abu Yaqub, and here now is the narration of Mahdi.
