I have seen a time among us when the one who possessed a dinar or a dirham had no greater claim to it than his Muslim brother. Then I have seen us in these latter days, when the dinar and the dirham are more beloved to one of us than his Muslim brother.
Its chain is daif due to the weakness of Abu Janab Kalbi. This number actually contains four hadiths under it. Each of them should have been given its own separate number, but I did not do so when numbering them, and I was unable to remedy what had already passed. So I decided to separate them while keeping the same number repeated for each, as you see. This first hadith among them, concerning the dinar and the dirham and the right of the Muslim, I did not find elsewhere. We will discuss the chain of all four of these hadiths in detail in the hadith following this one, number 5562m(1).Regarding "bi-akhiratin," meaning at the very end of the matter, after that period had passed, it is pronounced with fatha on the hamza and the kha, without elongation. It was written in H as "bi-aakhiratin," with elongation, which is an error. We have corrected it from K and M and from the dictionaries of the language.5562m1 - I heard the Messenger of Allah say, "If you cling to the tails of oxen, engage in trade through ina, and abandon jihad in the path of Allah, Allah will impose disgrace upon your necks, and it will not be lifted from you until you return to what you were upon and repent to Allah."Daif (5562m1). Its chain is daif, for it carries the same chain as the one before it.This hadith has already appeared in abridged form at 5007, narrated from Yahya bin Abdullah bin Abu Ghaniyah from Abu Hayan. The manuscript copies there differed between Abu Hayan, Abu Hubab, and Abu Janab, and we had judged there that it was from Abu Hayan. It has now become clear from this chain that what we had judged was a plain error, which we correct here. Yazid bin Harun stated explicitly that Abu Janab Yahya bin Abu Hayyah informed him of it, and this removes all doubt about the name of this shaykh, who is Abu Janab, with jim and nun, Yahya bin Abu Hayyah. His weakness was already established at 1136. We add here that Bukhari gave his biography in Kabir 2/4/267, saying, "Yahya Qattan used to declare him daif," and he said likewise in Duafa 36. Nasai said in Duafa 32, "Daif."As for "hatta tarjiuna" and "tatubuna," both are given with the confirming nun in H and M, and this has a valid grammatical basis, the like of which has occurred repeatedly in hadiths and in eloquent Arabic speech. In K, however, they appear as "tarjiu" and "tatubu," following the standard grammatical form.5562m2 - I heard the Messenger of Allah
say, "There will surely be emigration after emigration to the emigration place of your father Ibrahim
, until there remains in the lands only the worst of their people. Their lands will cast them out, the spirit of the Merciful
will find them repulsive, and the Fire will gather them together with monkeys and pigs. It will take its midday rest where they take theirs, and spend the night where they spend theirs, and whatever falls from them, it will eat."Daif (5562m2). Its chain is daif, the same as before. It is found in Majma al-Zawaid 5:251, where it says, "Ahmad narrated it within a long hadith about fighting the rebels, and in it is Abu Janab Kalbi, who is daif."Regarding "their lands will cast them out," Ibn Athir said this means their lands throw them out and fling them away. One says "lafaza the thing, yalfizuhu, lafzan," meaning he cast it away.Regarding "yaqdharuhum," with fatha on the dhal, Ibn Athir said this means He detests their going out to Syria and their settling there, and so does not grant them success in doing so, just as He said, "but Allah disliked their being sent forth, so He held them back" [Tawbah 9:46]. One says "qadhirtu the thing, aqdharuhu," meaning I disliked it and avoided it."The spirit of the Merciful" is among the attributes in which belief is obligatory, without interpretation or denial, without likening or comparison, "There is nothing like unto Him"
.5562m3 - I heard the Messenger of Allah
say, "There will emerge from my nation a people who do evil deeds and recite the Quran, but it will not pass beyond their throats." Yazid said, "I do not know him saying anything except, 'so that one of you will regard his own deeds as insignificant compared to theirs. They kill the people of Islam. So when they emerge, kill them, then when they emerge, kill them, then when they emerge, kill them. Blessed is he who kills them, blessed is he who kills them. Every time a horn among them rises, Allah
cuts it off.'" The Messenger of Allah
repeated that twenty times and more while I was listening.Daif (5562m3). Its chain is daif, the same as before. It is found in Majma al-Zawaid 6:229, where it says, "Ahmad narrated it, and in it is Abu Janab, who conceals his sources in transmission." See what has already passed in Musnad Ibn Masud, 3831.
