The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to wear a gold ring. Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ stood up, threw it away, and said, "I will never wear it again." So the people threw away their rings as well.
حدثنا أبو سلمة أخبرنا مالك عن عبد الله بن دينار
أن رسول الله ﷺ كان يلبس خاتما من ذهب ثم قام رسول الله ﷺ فنبذه وقال لا ألبسه أبدا قال فنبذ الناس خواتيمهم
