I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say at the chamber of Ayesha, "A banner will be raised for every treacherous person on the Day of Resurrection, and no treachery is greater than the treachery of a ruler of the people."
Its isnad is sahih, as we explained in 5112. The first part of it, about raising a banner for the treacherous person, has come up repeatedly, most recently at 5192. The rest of it, about the treachery of a general ruler, I have not found from the hadith of Ibn Umar in any place other than this one, but it is established and sahih from the hadith of Abu Saeed Khudri, in Sahih Muslim 2:48, "Every treacherous person will have a banner on the Day of Resurrection, raised in proportion to his treachery. Indeed, no treacherous person is more treacherous than a ruler over the general public."
