Messenger of Allah, teach me words to say each morning, each evening, and when I lie down to sleep.He said, "Say, 'O Allah, Originator of the heavens and the earth, Knower of the unseen and the seen,' or he said, 'O Allah, Knower of the unseen and the seen, Originator of the heavens and the earth, Lord of everything and its Sovereign, I bear witness that there is no god but You. I seek refuge in You from the evil of my own self, and from the evil of Satan and his incitement to associate others with You.'"
حدثنا بهز حدثنا شعبة حدثنا يعلى بن عطاء قال سمعت عمرو بن عاصم يقول سمعت أبا هريرة يقول
يا رسول الله علمني شيئا أقوله إذا أصبحت وإذا أمسيت وإذا أخذت مضجعي قال قل اللهم فاطر السموات والأرض عالم الغيب والشهادة أو قال اللهم عالم الغيب والشهادة فاطر السموات والأرض رب كل شيء ومليكه أشهد أن لا إله إلا أنت أعوذ بك من شر نفسي وشر الشيطان وشركه
Its isnad is sahih. Amr bin Asim is Amr bin Asim bin Sufyan bin Abdullah bin Rabia bin Harith Thaqafi, and he is trustworthy. The apparent sense of this hadith is that it is a narration of Abu Hurairah from Abu Bakr, but it will come later in the Musnad of Abu Hurairah under number 7948 in a form that may be understood to mean that it belongs to the Musnad of Abu Hurairah, relating Abu Bakr's question and the Messenger of Allah's ﷺ answer. In any case, the hadith is sahih. Hafiz has noted in Tahdhib, in the biography of Amr bin Asim, that this hadith was also narrated by Bukhari in Adab al-Mufrad, and by Abu Dawud, Tirmidhi, and Nasai.
