The Prophet ﷺ said, "Whoever does not have sandals should wear leather socks, but he must cut them down so that they fall below the ankles."
حدثنا عبد الله قال وجدت في كتاب أبي حدثنا حجاج حدثني شعبة عن عبد الله بن دينار سمعت
عن النبي ﷺ قال من لم يجد نعلين فليلبس خفين وليشقهما أو ليقطعهما أسفل من الكعبين
Its chain of transmission is sahih. It is an abridgment of 5003. "From the two ankles" in a manuscript in the margin of K and M reads "from the two feet."
