Ikrima bin Khalid said, "I asked Abdullah bin Umar about performing umrah before hajj."Ibn Umar replied, "There is no harm in anyone performing umrah before hajj."Ikrima said that Abdullah stated, "The Prophet ﷺ performed umrah before he performed hajj."
حدثنا عبد الله قال وجدت في كتاب أبي حدثنا محمد بن بكر
قال عكرمة بن خالد سألت عبد الله بن عمر عن العمرة قبل الحج فقال ابن عمر لا بأس على أحد يعتمر قبل أن يحج قال عكرمة قال عبد الله اعتمر النبي ﷺ قبل أن يحج
Its isnad is sahih. Bukhari related it in 3:477 through Abdullah bin Mubarak, Ibn Ishaq, and Abu Asim, all three from Ibn Jurayj. Abu Dawud related it in 2:150 in abridged form through Makhlad bin Yazid and Yahya bin Zakariya from Ibn Jurayj. The hadith of Ibn Abbas has already been mentioned, that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ performed umrah four times, three of them before the one accompanying his hajj, 2211, 2957.
