The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to anoint himself with plain, unscented oil when entering the state of ihram.
حدثنا وكيع حدثنا حماد بن سلمة عن فرقد السبخي عن سعيد بن جبير
أن رسول الله ﷺ كان يدهن عند الإحرام بالزيت غير المقتت
Its chain of transmission is daif due to the weakness of Farqad Sabakhi, whose weakness we have explained in 13, 2133. Tirmidhi related the hadith 2:123 from Hannad from Waki with this chain, and said, "This is a gharib hadith, we do not know it except through the report of Farqad Sabakhi from Saeed bin Jubayr. Yahya bin Saeed criticized Farqad Sabakhi, yet people related from him." It will also come again at 4829. Ibn Majah also related it, as in al-Muntaqa 2456. Al-Mufattat means perfumed, and it is that in which fragrant herbs are boiled until its scent becomes pleasant, as Ibn Athir said.
