The Quraysh used to swear by their forefathers, so the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Whoever swears an oath, let him swear by Allah. Do not swear by your forefathers."
حدثنا يحيى عن سفيان حدثني عبد الله بن دينار سمعت
كانت قريش تحلف بآبائها فقال رسول الله ﷺ من كان حالفا فليحلف بالله لا تحلفوا بآبائكم
