Rabah reported,

My family married me to a Roman slave-woman of theirs, and she bore me a black boy. Then a Roman slave named Yuhannas became attached to her and used to speak with her in Greek, and she became pregnant. She had previously borne me a black boy like myself, but this time she delivered a boy who looked like a small lizard.I asked her, "What is this?"She replied, "He is from Yuhannas."So I questioned Yuhannas, and he admitted it. I went to Uthman bin Affan and reported the matter to him. He sent for the two of them and questioned them, then said, "I will judge between you with the judgment of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. The child belongs to the bed, and for the fornicator is the stone."So he attributed the child to me and had them both flogged. Afterward she bore me another black boy.

حدثنا عفان حدثنا جرير بن حازم قال سمعت محمد بن عبد الله بن أبي يعقوب يحدث

عن رباح قال

زوجني أهلي أمة لهم رومية ولدت لي غلاما أسود فعلقها عبد رومي يقال له يوحنس فجعل يراطنها بالرومية فحملت وقد كانت ولدت لي غلاما أسود مثلي فجاءت بغلام وكأنه وزغة من الوزغات فقلت لها ما هذا فقالت هو من يوحنس فسألت يوحنس فاعترف فأتيت عثمان بن عفان رضي الله عنه فذكرت ذلك له فأرسل إليهما فسألهما ثم قال سأقضي بينكما بقضاء رسول الله ﷺ الولد للفراش وللعاهر الحجر فألحقه بي قال فجلدهما فولدت لي بعد غلاما أسود
