A man asked the Prophet ﷺ, while he was on the pulpit, about the dabb lizard. He replied, "I do not eat it, nor do I forbid it."The Prophet ﷺ also said, "Whoever eats from this tree should not come to the mosque."
حدثنا يحيى عن عبيد الله عن نافع
أن رجلا سأل النبي ﷺ عن الضب وهو على المنبر فقال لا آكله ولا أنهى عنه فقال النبي ﷺ من أكل من هذه الشجرة فلا يأتين المسجد
Its isnad is sahih, and it consists of two hadiths, the hadith of the lizard, whose meaning has already been discussed several times, most recently at 4573, and the hadith about eating from this plant, meaning garlic, which was narrated by Abu Dawud (3:425) from Ahmad bin Hanbal with this same isnad. Its meaning has already been discussed in the course of a hadith from Umar bin Khattab at 89 and 341.
