The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "The month is twenty-nine days, like this, like this, and like this. If it is obscured from you, then estimate it."The narrator said that whenever the night of the twenty-ninth came and there were clouds or haze in the sky, Ibn Umar would wake up fasting the next morning.
حدثنا يحيى بن سعيد عن عبيد الله حدثني نافع
قال رسول الله ﷺ الشهر تسع وعشرون هكذا وهكذا فإن غم عليكم فاقدروا له قال وكان ابن عمر إذا كان ليلة تسع وعشرين وكان في السماء سحاب أو قتر أصبح صائما
