The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "The example of you, the Jews, and the Christians is like a man who hired laborers. He said, 'Who will work for me from the morning prayer until midday for one qirat?' So the Jews worked. Then he said, 'Who will work for me from midday until the afternoon prayer for one qirat?' So the Christians worked. Then he said, 'Who will work for me from the afternoon prayer until sunset for two qirats?' And it is you who worked that final shift.The Jews and the Christians became angry and said, 'We did more work and received less pay.'He asked, 'Have I wronged you of any of your due?'They replied, 'No.'He said, 'This is simply my bounty, which I grant to whomever I wish.'"
حدثنا إسماعيل أخبرنا أيوب عن نافع
قال رسول الله ﷺ مثلكم ومثل اليهود والنصارى كرجل استعمل عمالا فقال من يعمل من صلاة الصبح إلى نصف النهار على قيراط قيراط ألا فعملت اليهود ثم قال من يعمل لي من نصف النهار إلى صلاة العصر على قيراط قيراط ألا فعملت النصارى ثم قال من يعمل لي من صلاة العصر إلى غروب الشمس على قيراطين قيراطين ألا فأنتم الذين عملتم فغضب اليهود والنصارى قالوا نحن كنا أكثر عملا وأقل عطاء قال هل ظلمتكم من حقكم شيئا قالوا لا قال فإنما هو فضلي أوتيه من أشاء
