The Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbade the use of gourds and pitch-coated vessels for steeping drinks.

Its isnad is sahih. Mutamir is Ibn Sulayman.Muslim narrated this hadith in 2:128 through Ubaydullah and others besides him, from Nafi, and he narrated it at length through Malik from Nafi. Nasai, Abu Dawud, and Tirmidhi also narrated it with the same meaning through various routes. See Al-Muntaqa 4745, 4747, 4748. Part of its meaning has already appeared in the hadith of Ibn Umar and Ibn Abbas, 3257, 3518.
