I was present with Abu Ubayda bin Abdullah bin Masud when two men came to him disputing over a sale. One said, "I bought it for such and such," and the other said, "I sold it for such and such."Abu Ubayda said, "A case like this was brought before Abdullah bin Masud, and he said, 'I was present when the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was brought a similar case, and he ordered that the seller take an oath, then the buyer be given the choice, if he wished he could take it, and if he wished he could leave it.'"Abdullah narrated, I read to my father, who said, I was informed from Hisham bin Yusuf concerning the two parties to a sale in the hadith of Ibn Jurayj from Ismail bin Umaya from Abdul-Malik bin Ubayd. My father said, Hajjaj al-Awar said, Abdul-Malik bin Ubayda.
حدثنا عبد الله قال قرأت على أبي من هاهنا فأقر به وقال حدثني محمد بن إدريس الشافعي أخبرنا سعيد بن سالم يعني القداح أخبرنا ابن جريج أن إسماعيل بن أمية أخبره
حضرت أبا عبيدة بن عبد الله بن مسعود وأتاه رجلان يتبايعان سلعة فقال هذا أخذت بكذا وكذا وقال هذا بعت بكذا وكذا فقال أبو عبيدة أتي عبد الله بن مسعود في مثل هذا فقال حضرت رسول الله ﷺ أتي في مثل هذا فأمر بالبائع أن يستحلف ثم يخير المبتاع إن شاء أخذ وإن شاء ترك حدثنا عبد الله قال قرأت على أبي قال أخبرت عن هشام بن يوسف في البيعين في حديث ابن جريج عن إسماعيل بن أمية عن عبد الملك بن عبيد وقال أبي قال حجاج الأعور عبد الملك بن عبيدة
