We were returning with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ from Hudaybiyah. They mentioned that they camped on soft ground, meaning sand. He asked, "Who will keep watch for us?"Bilal said, "I will."The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Then you will fall asleep."They slept until the sun rose. Some of them woke up, including so-and-so and so-and-so, and among them was Umar. We said, "Speak loudly," meaning, raise your voices.The Prophet ﷺ then woke up and said, "Do as you used to do."So we did. Then he said, "Whoever sleeps through a prayer or forgets it should do likewise."The she-camel of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ had wandered off, so I searched for it and found that its rope had become caught on a tree. I brought it to the Prophet ﷺ and he mounted it, pleased.Whenever revelation came down upon the Prophet ﷺ, it weighed heavily on him, and we could recognize that in him. He moved away and withdrew behind us. He began covering his head with his garment, and the weight of it bore down on him until we knew that something had been revealed to him. Then he came to us and informed us that the verse had been revealed to him, "Indeed, We have granted you a clear conquest" [Fath 48:1].
حدثنا محمد بن جعفر حدثنا شعبة عن جامع بن شداد قال سمعت عبد الرحمن بن أبي علقمة قال سمعت
أقبلنا مع رسول الله ﷺ من الحديبية فذكروا أنهم نزلوا دهاسا من الأرض يعني الدهاس الرمل فقال من يكلؤنا فقال بلال أنا فقال رسول الله ﷺ إذن تنم قال فناموا حتى طلعت الشمس فاستيقظ ناس منهم فلان وفلان فيهم عمر قال فقلنا اهضبوا يعني تكلموا قال فاستيقظ النبي ﷺ فقال افعلوا كما كنتم تفعلون قال ففعلنا قال وقال كذلك فافعلوا لمن نام أو نسي قال وضلت ناقة رسول الله ﷺ فطلبتها فوجدت حبلها قد تعلق بشجرة فجئت بها إلى النبي ﷺ فركب مسرورا وكان النبي ﷺ إذا نزل عليه الوحي اشتد ذلك عليه وعرفنا ذلك فيه فتنحى منتبذا خلفنا قال فجعل يغطي رأسه بثوبه ويشتد ذلك عليه حتى عرفنا أنه قد أنزل عليه فأتانا فأخبرنا أنه قد أنزل عليه إنا فتحنا لك فتحا مبينا
